Following months of anger towards Sony from Nintendo Switch and Xbox One fans who lost all their progression and skins if they wanted to play Fortnite on a console that wasn’t their PS4 Sony are finally allowing cross platform play for the game.
John Kodera, Head of PlayStation
“We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.”
Cross-play is enabled now for Fortnite in what Sony is calling an “Open Beta” despite everyone knowing it works perfectly following an incident previously where Epic Games “accidentally” enabled cross-play. There is no word on when other popular games featuring cross-play such as Minecraft and Rocket League will receive the ability for cross-play on PlayStation or even if they will receive the ability at all.
